The pharmaceutical industry is an important industry related to people's physical and mental health, including pharmaceuticals, medical machinery, hygiene materials, and other fields, occupying an important position in the national economy. Titanium is widely used in the pharmaceutical industry due to its non toxicity and good compatibility with the human body.
In pharmaceutical production, due to the dependence of acid, alkali, and salt on drug production, pharmaceutical equipment is easily corroded and damaged. The use of steel equipment not only fails to solve the problem of severe equipment corrosion, but also causes significant losses in manpower, material resources, and financial resources, affecting normal production. The use of titanium equipment effectively solves this problem.
In the production of several commonly used drugs, equipment made of titanium has good corrosion resistance and has achieved considerable economic benefits.
1. Vitamin B1 production
China often uses hydrogen chloride conversion method to produce vitamin B1, and the finished product is dried by cyclone and separated by two cyclones. Its medium is thiamine hydrochloride, with a pH value of 2.5 and a temperature of 110 ℃, and it is highly corrosive. The original drying device was made of stainless steel material, and after more than a year of use, the inner wall corroded and perforated, seriously contaminating the medicine.
After adopting titanium spiral feeder, cyclone separator, vortex body, hopper and discharge pipe, and titanium lining of tail gas box, the production qualification rate of vitamin B1 has increased from a maximum of 95% to 100%, and the equipment has been used for more than 7 years without corrosion, and the titanium cost can be recovered in 3 months.
2. Vitamin C production
Vitamin C is made from sorbitol as raw material, fermented into mountain pear sugar with black vinegar fungus, and then fermented with Pseudomonas aeruginosa to produce low concentration gulonic acid. After concentration, it is converted into finished product by hydrogen chloride.
Titanium is highly corrosion-resistant in high-temperature gulonic acid. In the production process of this product, titanium tube heat exchangers, titanium DHC-500 butterfly settling automatic slag discharge centrifuges, and TC4 cast impellers were used, and no corrosion was found after many years of use.
3. Antibiotic production
The main raw material for the chemical synthesis of chloramphenicol (an antibiotic) is methyl dichloroacetate, which contains about 2% chloroalkene and trichloroethylene. If steel equipment is used in the distillation process, it is prone to severe corrosion. However, it has remained intact since the use of titanium equipment.
4. Anesthetic production
The procaine hydrochloride used for local anesthesia is produced from p-nitrotoluene as raw material, which has strong corrosiveness throughout the entire production process of oxidation to p-nitrobenzoic acid, acetic acid washing, and mother liquor recovery. Therefore, the production equipment adopts titanium steel composite plate inner cylinder, titanium bubble tube, glacial acetic acid circulating condenser, and gas-liquid separator to solve the corrosion problem.
5. Production of deworming drugs and other pharmaceuticals
Quxiajing (Tetraimidazole) is an efficient intestinal nematode insecticide. In the production of this product, stainless steel equipment was originally used, but the product was contaminated due to corrosion. After using titanium as the feed pipe and pump inlet pipe, the corrosion problem was successfully solved.
Nitrochlorophenol is a highly effective veterinary drug for treating Fasciola hepatica in cattle and sheep, produced using sulfuric acid, nitric acid, glacial acetic acid, and chlorine containing solutions. The titanium sales tank agitator is used and has been operating normally so far. In addition, activated carbon decolorization is commonly used in pharmaceutical production. After replacing stainless steel suction filters with titanium ones, they remain intact even after 9 years of use.
In the production of brominated amino acids abroad, titanium reactors are used for processes such as bromination, separation, salting out, extraction, and distillation. It is necessary to use titanium equipment in China to produce malaria drugs, anti schistosomiasis drugs that come into contact with chloride ions, contraceptive pills, rheumatology drugs, etc. using quinoline derivatives. Other equipment such as penicillin esterification kettle, saccharification tank, chloramphenicol thin film evaporator, metamaterial reactor, Meituer filter, dimethyl sulfate cooler, and liquid medicine filter all have the feasibility and necessity of using titanium materials for manufacturing.
